“Leontine Sagan” - new documentary film

I never thought that I would ever do a documentary film in my life - this is how fast things can change: Inspired by Leontine Sagans memoires I felt a deep urge to show the world how similar conditions were back in the 1930ies: to be a female stage and film director in a very male dominated branche, to be a young actress looking for the chance to make her stage debut, to deal with professional failure, to find a meaning in life despite worldwide success… it is like the world has not changed at all.
Despite being a documentary film this film aims to be entertaining and informative at the same time and thanks to the music of the 1930ies it keeps swinging the whole time (more about Leontine).

Our short film “Black Out Date” went finally online. After being invited to 14 national and international film festivals and having won 5 awards, it has now left the festival circuit and will be available in the internet - anytime, anywhere and for free.

Based on a story by Robert Strebl we shot a quite unusual romantic comedy on a low-low-budget, but with great acting and a lot of funny moments. I especially like the soundtrack of the film that was composed by Michael Ehninger. Working together with a great team makes the shooting of a film an unforgettable experience and I am convinced the great team work made this film as good and funny as it is - enjoy watching it!
Alice Frick wins Vienna’s Young Talents Award “Hopp oder Tropp”

Congratulations! After her well received performances in the preliminary rounds, Alice has just won the Young Talents Award “Hopp oder Tropp“ last Saturday at the renowned Austrian Comedy Club “Vindobona” in Vienna.

I am proud to be her sister - and I am happy that she has chosen to work with me as a director again on her new comedy stand up solo “Hollywood - die halbe Wahrheit ganz!“ (that she will perform on Oct. 6 in Vienna).

Wieder durfte ich Regie beim neuen Comedy Soloprogramm von Alice Frick machen, das am 18. Mai 2010 vor ausverkauftem Saal im Spektakel 2.0 Premiere feierte:

Die Show findet ab 25. Januar 2010 viermal jeden letzten Montag des Monats im Studio im Theater Akzent statt. Ein Abend voller Comedy, live und mit Filmsketches, der mit Witz und Niveau auf einen Lachmuskelkater beim Publikum zielt.
Durch die Show führt Stand Up Comedian Alice Frick. Jedes Mal wird sie unterstützt von zwei Comedians. Bei der anschließenden After Show Party ist jeder und jede herzlich zu einem Glas Sekt eingeladen. Ob jung, ob alt, alle sind willkommen, solange gerne gelacht wird!

Last summer I was part of a writing team lead by Lilly Axster from Theater Foxfire. It was a very funny and fresh experience to write and hear about love and sexuality from any kind of view - and to see all these insights merge in a play called “Schrilles Herz“. The soundtrack to our short film “Eiswolke” (engl. title: “Icebound”) is now available at the iTunes Store.

The album consists of 9 instrumental tracks that are all part of the film. For me as a director it is an essential decision what kind of music I choose for my films - the score sets the tone and creates the atmosphere of the whole world in the movie. If the music does not fit in the concept of the film perfectly, you will loose the audience within seconds.
I am very proud of the soundtrack for “Eiswolke” and I am very glad that I found such an inspirated and professional collaborator/composer as Michael Ehninger.

I put the short film “deli.Moment” about a year ago on youtube - today the counter went beyond 5,000 views: It is an amazing thought, that so many people watched a small students’ non-budget-film that was never meant to become something like a shortfilm - blockbuster… I know of some feature films at the cinemas that were not as lucky; so I really appreciate it.
